How to Watch TF1 Online for Free from Outside of France

Originally established in 1975 and privatized in 1987, TF1 is the first and oldest television station in France. TF1 stands for Television Francaise 1.

The station is currently available on DTT, cable, and satellite digital on CanalSat, Canal+ and analog. TF1 also broadcasts on television and xDSL Internet via its website. In terms of payroll and hearings, TF1 surpasses the BBC and Canal+.

TF1′s online on-demand service is MYTF1VOD.fr (formerly TF1vision). TF1 online streams films, cult French comedies, French TV shows, documentaries, sports, travel shows, historical programs, and live TV shows.

Currently there are three available online viewing options for MYTF1VOD.fr:

  • VIEW NOW (streaming live)
  • RENT (for 24 hours)
  • DOWNLOAD (purchase)

Unfortunately for those who are living abroad, MYTF1VOD.fr programming is only available to Internet users that reside within France. This is mainly because TF1 does not retain the rights to broadcast its online programming outside of France.

Unblock Geo-restrictions on TF1

TF1′s online service makes use of a blocking system that scans the IP address of users who try to access it. If your IP address reveals that you are in a country other than France, you will be barred from accessing TF1. If you try to access TF1′s online service from outside of France you will be faced with this message:

In order to circumvent this restriction and gain access to MYTF1VOD.fr you will need to obtain a French IP address. The easiest and most effective way to do this is with a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

VPNs are secure private networks that allow you to connect with remote servers on other networks. If you work with a VPN provider that maintains servers in France you’ll be able to use a French IP address to access TF1 online.

Access TF1 Online with a VPN

Using a VPN is not only the best way to access TF1 from the UK or anywhere else. It’s also one of the best ways to ensure your security and privacy while you are online.

We’ve tried many different VPNs for accessing TF1 online and the one that consistently stands out to us is Hide My Ass (HMA VPN). It’s a fast, secure VPN that maintains servers in France and some 50 other different countries around the world. It also rates highly in all of the categories we typically judge VPNs by.
