What is the motivation behind the creation of IPVanish VPN?
Having worked for over 15 years in the network management, IP services, and content delivery services industry, we noticed that there were many options in the retail VPN market, but none that were very fast and none that offered a full suite of connection options modern netizens expect.
Since we already had points-of-presence all over the world and direct relationships with all the major bandwidth providers out there, it only made sense that we fill the gap we noticed in the VPN market.
Plus, since we already have a large volume of business on our network, we have the ability to pass our bulk savings onto our customers. IPVanish’s goal is to offer the very best VPN service in the world for the most reasonable price of any provider.
What kind of information/data do you keep from your customers?
We in no way record or store any user’s activity while connected to the VPN. Period. We don’t know where you went or what you did when connected at all. We highly respect our customer’s right privacy and don’t think it’s anyone’s business what someone does.
The only information we collect from a VPN session is: When and length of time connected, IP address used to make the connection and bytes transferred. This helps us troubleshoot any connectivity issues a customer may have. And of the small amount of support info we do keep, we purge it regularly.
Also, IPVanish users are given dynamic and shared IP addresses from a pool. Essentially that mixes customer A’s traffic with customer B’s and C’s and so on. Even if we wanted to separate or isolate a user’s traffic it would be almost impossible to do so.
What makes your VPN service different from the other providers?
Speed and multiple connections per account. We’ve spent many, many years of blood, sweat and tears building out our backbone and network relationships. That work is now paying off… we’re consistently being tested as the fastest VPN, by far, in N. America and Europe.
Plus, users are no longer tethered to their laptops or desktops. They are mobile. We didn’t feel it was right that you would have to log off your home or work connection just to pop down to a store and stay safe on your phone or iPad. What a pain! IPVanish is the only VPN out there offering customers TWO connections to VPN servers at the same time. As long as you use OpenVPN and one other connection of either L2TP or PPTP, you are fine with us. This is not at an extra cost. You get it for a lower price than others charge for just one connection.

Simple…our customers, like ourselves, believe in their right to online privacy and security. We’re here to make that possible.
What are your development plans for the future?
IPVanish will continue to grow its VPN backbone around the globe. We just launched a server in China and additional servers in Manchester, UK and Stockholm, Sweden. We also just released a major update to our Windows VPN client, focused on speed and usability.
Our plans are to continue growing the number of countries we operate in along with adding servers in countries our customers want most. The more options we can offer users, the better.
